Insurance Fundamentals
The
Insurance Fundamentals seminar is put on in conjunction with the Insurance
Institute and is a full-day introduction to the business of general
insurance. Originally, called "Fundamentally Yours", the seminar was a
half-day long and was designed by women for women. The Toronto Insurance
Women's Association under its then President Diane Wigley in 1971
initiated the seminar. Today, TIWA members continue to present the
material and the attendants are comprised of both men and women.
For over thirty years, the seminar has covered such areas as the insurance
policy, insurance terminology, reinsurance, statistics and claims and is
designed for those with limited knowledge of the general insurance
industry.
Not only
newcomers benefit, but also administrative and support staff, accounts
personnel, Human Resources and Information Technology employees and junior
staff.
